CV

DR2 INRA, UMR1347 Agroécologie, GEAPSI group. Co-leader of the FILEAS team (Seed FIlling & Abiotic Stresses) whose project is mainly dedicated to the optimization and stabilization of seed quality components in European grain legume crops, such as pea. We study molecular processes controlling the establishment of seed quality, notably those related to the remobilization of nutrients from source organs to seeds. We investigate the effect of water deficit and sulfur deficiency, two stresses that interact in the current context of climate change and low atmospheric sulfur deposition, in view of identifying genes that might help legume plants to maintain seed yield, protein content and composition under such adverse conditions

Activity of research

My research project focuses on the understanding of the molecular mechanisms controlling seed composition and its plasticity under environmental constraints, mainly sulfur deficiency, with the objective of optimizing and stabilizing the nutritional value of grain legume seeds. This project is structured into two axes. The
consists in using the model legume species Medicago truncatula to boost the identification of genes controlling seed development and then in transferring the information to important legume crops, in particular pea for which extensive genomics and post-genomics resources are now available. The second focuses on sulfur nutrition and its role in the pea response to water deficit (thesis of Charlotte Henriet). These two axes target the optimization and stabilization of seed quality (e.g. size and protein composition) and are strongly connected owing to the importance of sulfur nutrition in the establishment of seed quality.
