Lake Biogeochemistry

Lakes and reservoirs are biogeochemical reactors that receive nutrient (C,N,P) in several forms, some of which will be transformed, emitted to the atmosphere, stored as biomass, buried permanently in their sediments, or transferred downstream. By coupling limnological, paleolimnological and modelling approaches, our group's objective is to advance the understanding of decadal to centennal transfers and transformations of C,N,P in lake-watershed systems, and the potential impacts on lake functioning and on biogeochemical cycles along the land-ocean aquatic continuum. Among the themes we can list:
